(10.04.2010) The past three months have been very busy. I have spent the time doing more research for my case, as well as integrating into the German Culture. I have also started to write a book about my experiences, with the hope that one day it will be used to help other people in a similar situation. USA: Afghanistan war resister Travis Bishop is free!

(31.03.2010) Afghanistan war resister Travis Bishop was finally released from the brig at Fort Lewis last week. Travis originally was sentenced to 12 months in prison in a court-martial at Fort Hood, Texas for refusing to deploy to Afghanistan for reasons of conscience. He later received a 3 month reduction in sentence due to a successful clemency application to the Commanding General at Fort Hood, as well as receiving extra time off for good behavior. He served a total of 7 months and 12 days of confinement, as well as a reduction of rank from Sergeant to Private and a pending Bad Conduct Discharge.

Berkeley (US): City council recommends amnesty for war resisters

(30.03.2010) On Tuesday, March 9, 2010, the Berkeley (California) City Council passed Resolution No. 64,803 N.S. recommending “Universal and Unconditional Amnesty for Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan War Military Resisters and Veterans Who Acted In Opposition to the War for Matters of Conscience.”

British refusenik Joe Glenton jailed for nine months

(07.03.2010) On March 5, 2010, British Afghanistan war refusenik Joe Glenton was sentenced to nine months in jail for having gone AWOL. Connection e.V., Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) Europe and German Peace Society & Organization of War Resisters (DFG-VK) in Hesse, alongside many other organizations worldwide, strongly condemn the judgment handed down by the military court in Colchester. Connection e.V., IVAW Europe and DFG-VK Hesse ask you to show solidarity by sending letters to Joe Glenton.
