Women refusing militarization in South America

No more bodies for war

(05.09.2020) Countries from South America have been historically arbitrated by perpetuation of repressive actions from Government as torture, chasing, disappearance, among others; with the objective of keeping control on society, through surveillance and meddling from military statements at the society, as we watched at its moment with ‘Operation Condor’ in midst 70s and 80s. As a result, the civilian population has become aware of resistance processes, where women, from their voice and actions, have been a fundamental part in activities.

USA: National Guard Troops Refuse Trump’s Race War

(04.06.2020) Courage to Resist is currently assisting members of the National Guard who resisted Trump’s orders to violently attack people on the streets of Washington DC peacefully and lawfully protesting racial injustice. Now that Trump is threatening to use the 1807 Insurrection Act to send active-duty troops in cities across the US, it’s time for every member of the military to search their conscience. We want to make sure we’re there to support the brave men and women who continue to refuse these illegal orders.

(15.05.2020) Today, on May 15, the International Day of Conscientious Objection, Connection e.V. and War Resisters’ International present numerous video clips from all over the world on our YouTube channel Refuse to Kill. “We received contributions from many countries that deal with varied aspects of conscientious objection, from North and South America, from Asia, from Africa, and from Europe”, says  Rudi Friedrich from Connection e.V. “It is a clear commitment against war and participation in war.”

In 2012 was created this organization as a group interested on joining forces against fascism at our country. Step by step, this movement took us to understand antimilitarism and militarization as an structural part of the State and the patriarchal society at Colombia.
